Lauren E. Appell, M.D.

   Lauren E. Appell, M.D.

Dr. Appell, who is originally from Birmingham, Alabama, came to Little Rock, Arkansas to for our Pediatric Residency Program at UAMS and was eager to join the Peds HEMONC fellowship right after.  When asked what drew her to our fellowship, Dr. Appell replied, “the Pediatric Hematology/Oncology group are like family, and I knew I wanted to be a part of it.  I knew, without a doubt, I would always have the support from the attendings and staff in pursuing my personal goals.”  She truly believes the UAMS Pediatric Hematology/Oncology Fellowship is a “hidden gem!”  We are glad she chose us, and we look forward to her staying on for a 4th year Research Fellowship!

Pediatric Hematology/Oncology 1st year fellow, Mary Beth Littrell

Mary “Beth” Littrell, M.D.

Originally from Alabama, Dr. Littrell joined us from the University of Mississippi Medical Center in Jackson.  She is our 3rd year fellow.  Dr. Littrell knew she wanted to be apart of our fellowship family during her initial interview.  She states, “The attending physicians and staff expressed genuine interest in my future, and I realized choosing Arkansas was synonymous with reaching my full potential in the field.  Arkansas Children’s, being the only children’s hospital in the state, provides unique opportunities and diverse patient population unmatched at most programs.  In addition, this program is home to one of the largest hemophilia treatment centers in the country and offers experience treating patients of all ages.  My first week here confirmed my decision; I could not be happier in Little Rock!”

Dr. Tucker Blackledge

Tucker Blackledge, M.D.

Dr. Tucker Blackledge will be starting his 2nd year of fellowship!  Dr. Blackledge and his family have joined us from Louisiana State University Health Sciences Center in Shreveport.  According to Dr. Blackledge, “UAMS Peds HEMONC has a strong familial and interpersonal vibe, with a staff that is very engaged and involved!”

Andrew Tran, M.D.

Dr. Andrew Tran joins us from Dallas, Texas and completed his pediatric residency at Baylor Scott & White.  It has always been a calling of his to take care of pediatric patients with cancer and blood disorders.  He chose Arkansas Children’s Hospital because he could feel that we were a “big family” and that he was going to learn so much.  Welcome Dr. Tran to your first year of fellowship!
