Resident with research posterWe accept applications for the Child Neurology Residency Program at The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences/Arkansas Children’s Hospital from U.S. medical schools and the World Health Organization (WHO) – recognized foreign medical schools.

Application Requestions/Information

We abide by all National Resident Matching Program (NRMP) rules for the residency program.

We are approved by the ACGME for a total of 3 pediatric neurology residents. In addition, through collaboration with the UAMS/ACH Pediatric Residency Program, we have two categorical pediatric spots available for the preliminary pediatric years.  The Child Neurology program is the only program that applicants need to apply for in ERAS, it is not necessary to apply separately to Pediatrics in ERAS.

Applications are accepted from both MD and DO applicants.

USMLE and COMLEX:  There is NO minimum score required to apply.  UAMS has a general benchmark score of 220 for the USMLE Step 1 score and 550 for the Comlex score, however, this is not a requirement to apply.

An applicant’s entire application is reviewed to ensure that the individual has excellent knowledge, clinical skills, research skills, strong moral character, etc.  We strive to fill all or residency positions with well-rounded and diverse applicants.

We accept applications from International Medical Graduates, below are some additional items for International Graduates to consider:

  1.  Only J-1 and H-1B Visas are accepted.
  2. All ECFMG requirements must be met, including having completed USMLE Step 1 and Step 2.
