Welcome to the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS), Department of Pediatrics. A majority of our clinical, educational and research activities are conducted on the campus of Arkansas Children’s Hospital (ACH) and Arkansas Children’s Hospital Research Institute (ACHRI). Since ACH is the sole pediatric tertiary, quaternary and specialty care center in Arkansas and segments of the surrounding states, we serve a large, diverse population.
As part of our commitment to comprehensive pediatric care, we have assembled an outstanding faculty with expertise in all areas of pediatric medicine. Our faculty, residents and staff are committed to enhancing the health of all children through excellence in clinical services, education, research, and service.
The Department of Pediatrics, in alliance with partners at UAMS, ACH and ACHRI, embraces four equally important components of our mission: clinical care, research, education and service. Each component is completely compatible with the missions of both ACH and UAMS.
Our mission is to improve the health, healthcare and well-being of all of Arkansas’ children, as well as children in the region, the nation and the world through education of exemplary healthcare providers, provision of standard-setting comprehensive programs, research and scientific discovery, and extension of services to the state of Arkansas and beyond. Our core values of integrity, respect, teamwork, creativity and excellence are central to our approach in accomplishing our mission.
On behalf of our faculty, residents, staff and partners at ACH and ACHRI, I invite you to visit and experience for yourself the components and programs of the Department of Pediatrics. Join us and make a difference for children.
